Policy makers, researchers, students and citizens have an interest in a repository of privacy policies for information, comparison and study. This Library is intended to serve that need and is the only library of privacy policies in existence on the internet as of the founding date of June 2009.
It is also sometimes difficult to know which privacy policy is actually active at any given time during your use of the internet. For example, if your bank asks you to complete a survey, the survey is usually conducted by a third-party who frequently contracts a fourth-party to host the survey and database. Similarly, as over half a million credit card customers discovered in the Network Solutions breach, while you are shopping on the internet, thinking you are protected by the privacy policy of the merchant, your information may be housed by one or more other providers contracting and sub-contracting. Where we identify such linkages first hand, they are be recorded in Librarian Notes or as Keywords in the affected privacy policies.

Volunteers Wanted!
Anyone who is willing to post privacy policies in their spare time and who would like to be acknowledged for their contributions will be gladly acknowledged here, or if the list grows sufficiently , on a separate Our Librarians page. If using the User Submission Form is tedious for volunteers who wish to do a significant amount of posting, arrangements can be made for more convenient access. Just contact us using the the Contact Form and be sure to note that it is the Privacy Policy Library with which you wish to work.
